Effective September 1, 2021

The Probate and Family Court hereby announces that Standing Order 2-16 – Parent Education Program Attendance and the Temporary Amendment to Standing Order 2-16: Parent Education Program Attendance are suspended effective September 1, 2021.

Effective September 1, 2021, Standing Order 2-16 and the temporary amendment to Standing Order 2-16 shall be suspended.  Parents in divorce cases filed as of July 12, 2021 will not be required to submit a parent education certificate. Parents in divorce cased filed until July 11, 2021 will be required to submit a parent education certificate before September 1, 2021.

All court-approved parent education programs must complete their programs by August 31, 2021. No new programs may be offered under the auspices of Probate and Family Court Standing Order 2-16 or its temporary amendment on or after September 1, 2021.

Over the next several months, the Probate and Family Court will consider whether the parent education program can be restructured to offer a comprehensive, on-line, evidence-based program to parents in contested cases only. The Probate and Family Court anticipates issuing a Request for Proposals to evaluate the different options available.
